SEC-02 · ANTAGONIST DOSSIER: THE BUTCHER (MASKED BARN HOST)
A common pre-match question among new players is whether one person in a 5-player lobby controls the Butcher in an asymmetrical 1v4 mode. Official Steam gameplay footage and store specifications confirm that all five human seats play as table captives competing against one another, while the Butcher operates as the non-playable AI host and trial overseer.
Dressed in a stitched burlap sack mask with round eye cutouts, a heavy blood-splattered butcher's apron, and armed with a rusted meat cleaver, the Butcher patrols the barn perimeter and presides over the central table. He swaps the deadly tabletop contraptions between rounds, enforces the rules of the trial, and ensures that only one survivor walks out of the barn alive.

Across multiple official screenshots on Steam (App ID 4661070), the five core captive archetypes appear in both their default civilian lineup outfits and distinct alternate cosmetic variations—including formal suits with red ties, colorful floral shirts, yellow overalls, and tinted sunglasses—alongside translucent pale-blue ghost states after elimination.
Two living animals also share the torture barn with the captives: an orange tabby cat that strolls directly across the blood-stained wooden tabletop beside the Mechanical Jaws (and can be petted mid-round with a first-person hand outreach), and a pink farm pig that wanders the hay-strewn floorboards behind the captives' chairs.
